Yetze Casino Nights #2
Blurry Records Label Night
Yetze Casino Nights presents: Blurry Records Label Night feat. Maresz (live) / ronja (live) / RIP Swirl (DJ Set)
Last month’s premiere of Yetze Casino Nights was a blast - and the second installment of this carefully curated event series at Ballhaus Ost promises to be just as good as: an intimate musical treat with a focus on female voices from Berlin.
Introducing her RIP Swirl-produced new EP entitled “Taste,” Maresz & band will headline this low-key Blurry Records Special that also features ronja (Roomer), who presents her recently released solo EP “Up With The Sun”. Additionally, Blurry founder RIP Swirl is going to play a special DJ set.
A returning feature guest on RIP Swirl’s forthcoming studio album, Maresz (Maresh Miciula) is about to drop new solo music this forthcoming summer. Born in Kazakhstan, raised in Poland, she’s been bridging music, fashion, and more between Paris and her current home Berlin. Previously known for a series of dancefloor fillers and minimalist alt-pop tunes (via Cititrax NYC), Maresz’ current chapter began when she started to work with guitar-meets-electronics wizard RIP Swirl who eventually signed her to his own Blurry Records imprint. Flirting with the blurry edges of Slow Core and Indie bliss over steadily unfolding beats, the upcoming EP “Taste” is all hazy dreamscapes, slowed-down bangers with a seductive edge. Produced in Los Angeles, it’s trippy tunes that seem to exist outside of time and space.
Co-responsible for a spectacular debut release with dreamgaze trio Roomer last year, Berlin-based ronja recently returned with her second solo EP “Up With The Sun” via Unguarded/Präsens Editionen. Recorded between Berlin and Copenhagen, the EP’s six tracks trace longing/distance, and moments of closeness through small, recurring details, revealing the timeless core of ronja’s songwriting. Bringing just her guitar and some electronics to accompany her voice, she’s going to set the tone for a night full of blurry memories in the making.
Last but not least, RIP Swirl is going to play some unreleased Blurry material and exclusive bangers in his DJ set.
